Do you have a wellness program?

A wellness program is something that actively promotes a healthier lifestyle for employees. Whether it is simply encouraging employees to exercise, or to make help available for employees to stop smoking, a wellness plan will aid in eliminating some basic negative health factors. In most cases, the simple act of tracking nutrition and fitness improves health and reduces stress. Participating in an employer’s wellness program will not only make you feel better, but it will cut down on the number of doctor’s visits (and sick days) you use every year and save you money!

One of the easiest things anyone can do to improve their health is to start paying attention to everything we put in our bodies on a daily basis. Instead of taking a cigarette break, walk around the parking lot a couple times. Do you drink enough water every day? Do you even keep track of how much water you drink? These are steps we should all be taking every day to ensure lower stress, higher productivity, and an overall sense of well-being.

Wellness programs encourage activities like these and will sometimes even offer incentives to participate. One such wellness program is currently being introduced by West Coast Group Benefits to HealthWay of San Diego, a not-for-profit trust. Offerings for members of the Trust include exercise classes, healthy cooking classes, and even a Health & Wellness Fair. Ask your employer about your wellness program today.

Nevada Business Magazine – West Coast Group Benefits Featured

Recently West Coast Group Benefits was featured in the September issue of Nevada Business Magazine, a publication that according to its LinkedIn profile: “…provides information, insight and commentary for the decision makers in Nevada – featuring industry roundtable discussions, special issues, recognition awards, events, and more. The perfect resource to connect, network, and build business in Nevada.”

In the piece, our Sr. Vice-President Rick Leon talks a little bit about the potential for a merit shop, federally qualified ERISA trust in the Nevada area. Trusts such as these establish a system for merit shop contractors to use prevailing wage dollars (on prevailing wage jobs) for medical and ancillary insurance. The use of these dollars towards insurance products greatly reduces the payroll burden for employers, allowing their bids on contracts to be much lower and more competitive. We all know that more competitive bids mean more work! If you’d like to learn more about prevailing wage contributions and how it could save your company money, check out our prevailing wage contributions page here. If you are interested in how much you can save, request a quote right here!
